Danielle “eSpeara” Bachew was the only active lady spearfisher (speara) in Trinidad (before 2018), and therefore decided to take it to the next level. She connected with Mustaq while doing her thesis on Defining the Spearfishery of Trinidad. This led to her engagement with the top spearos in the country to learn and understand the sport and the community. Success with this fueled her passion further. In 2018 she started the Starter Charter, originally to get more women into the sport and to help new spearos with safety and technique. It then blossomed into a full blown community for Kids and Adults to be introduced to the beauty of the ocean.

Our Funny Guy, ‘Wolfe’ brings great joy to every class, but do not watch him slight. Wolfe is one of our deep divers who specialises in Safety and Freedive Entry for both Kids and Adults. He is “kix” on land, serious in the water and always ready to help with whatever you need. That includes a buff you if you need it. He is technical and pointed in his teaching and is sure to get results.

Quincy is one of our deep divers for the more advanced classes, with his max depth being 128ft. He is focused on technique and tranquility when he teaches and it shines through in the progress of his students. His specialty is teaching adults the Freedive Entry. His is also
a keen spearfisherman with excellent underwater achievements in both Free iving and Spearfishing in Trinidad and Tobago.

Kevin is a well known diver and spearo, but is also an excellent pair of eyes and hands in any given situation. He oversees the team and groups on events to ensure we are fully equipped with any necessity or luxury that can add to the experience. No event can take place without the our trusted Events Manager and Food Co-ordinator. These women take care of the physical and emotional preparation, planning and catering for all eSpeara events, whether they are present or not! Their food and desserts are ALWAYS on point!

Garth is our resident Bush Man who is well versed in hiking, camping, excursions and EVERYTHING. We call him Inspector Gadget because no matter what you need, he has it! He is also an expert hasher and technical “tinker-er”. He is indisposible for any event outdoors!

Achilles is one of our young assistant instructors who is ONLY a Jr because of his age. He is every bit as much a diver as the rest of us. He shows extreme promise and potential in the game of Freediving and Spearfishing. Watch out for this young man!

Sabrina is our Baby whisperer as she sepcialised in the younglings. She’s also excellent with the more mature crowd and anyone how is now learning to swim or get over the fear of the water. Mustaq Mohammed is one of Trinidad’s top and most well known spearfishers in the country. He owns the largest Freediving & Spearfishing Gear shop in the Caribbean - Rob Allen Trinidad. With 25+ years of experience, he has explored Trinidad & Tobago’s spearfishing site and made a favourable reputation in the community. Mustaq began spearfishing when gears were home-made and the sport was unheard of. He changed the game in Trinidad by introducing and popularising the sport, exponentially increasing the community, their local options, their safety and opportunities. Worthy of being looked up to, Mustaq used the spotlight to spread awareness of un-safe practices and unsustainable hunting methods by teaching on charters and setting a good example.

Saif Mohammed has been diving under the care of Mustaq for over 15 years. He began when he was 4 years old, and we have the pictures to prove it! ‘Siffy’ has silently surpassed national records and continues to dive deeper and deeper with ease. Whilst being certified, he exceeded the depth required, got to the 128ft, picked up sand and came back up becasue there wasn’t enough depth to really challenge him. We are yet to unlock his full potential in Trinidad, but hope to change that soon! Not only has Siffy blown us out of the water, but he is an underwater sniper. Saftely and sustainably hunting, Siffy has stoned large, top quality, impressive species time and time again. And to top it all off, he’s also a sushi master! Hard luck ladies, his heart belongs to the sea.
